Innovator in online learning extends tuition subsidies to help student groups finish school year from home

Fleming Island, Fl – March 19, 2020 – Founder of one of the largest online university systems in the country, Dr James Etter, has committed more than $5,000,000 in reduced tuition cost to help high schools find a virtual learning platform for their students. The coronavirus pandemic has led to unprecedented and unplanned school closures throughout the US. Many public schools and school districts have developed virtual learning capability in recent years.

While few anticipated the current circumstances, they are prepared to keep students learning from home during the crisis. Still, many schools, especially private, independents, charters and co-ops are not prepared and are searching for accredited, cost-effective solutions to minimize interruption for students. Another critical challenge facing schools is matching an unplugged distance learning option for students that lack connectivity.

“We want school administrators, teachers and parents to know we’re here to help and we feel strongly that the right thing to do is to waive our fee and quickly help them establish a plan to resume learning”, says Citizens’ High School CEO, Dr. Etter. “Additionally, with so much uncertainty about when things will return to normal, we made the decision to go ahead and extend this offer through the end of the school year”. The offer is available now for schools of any class size and Citizens’ will provide students with accredited courses for as long as they need them through June.

The turnkey offering for schools includes:

● Virtual learning environment complete with mobile platform, curriculum and collaboration software for all faculty, students and administrators

● Access to a learning repository containing over 125 online core academic and elective courses.

● Student and faculty orientation

● Faculty member customization to the curriculum and assessments as they deem appropriate

● 100% control of all student data, including grades, course work, assessments, etc.

● Technical support

● Unplugged options for students lacking access to connectivity

Citizens’ High School has created a Special Response Team to assist schools in determining their virtual learning readiness and delivery of online classes for their students.

CHS has been facilitating distance learning with hard copy course materials for 40 years and has agreed to make its entire unplugged curriculum available to students in an ecosystem capable of covering printing costs. “While many in our industry have been responding with online solutions to help schools, we want to make it clear that CHS is also prepared to solve the mostly unaddressed issue of students that lack connectivity”, adds Dr Etter. “We can not allow current circumstances to contribute to a widening gap in educational opportunity for our students, and we stand ready to provide no cost solutions.”
