Now connect with people who are available for an In-person meetup

Curius, a social-networking app which introduces 6 swiping directions, now adds the ability to convey the ability to ‘meet in person’.

In the era of social-distancing, meeting new people means less hand-holding and more air-fiving. Is that an indicator that we should settle for loneliness? Curius, a social-networking and dating app, doesn’t think so. With the introduction of the In-Person Meetup badge, users on the app can now indicate whether they’re open to meeting in person. By tapping on the button in their profile settings, users have the choice to communicate their social needs in a way that is unique to the current circumstances. The best part of this addition to the app is that it’s available right now in the Apple App Store.

“We’ve seen a surge in users, about 26%, who are adding the ‘In-Person Meetup’ badge since we implemented it,” Harrit Diwan, the CEO and Co-Founder of Curius, says, “This shows us the necessity this badge is in the way people communicate their availability to meet instead of restricting themselves to video call and chat.”

When this badge is added to a user’s profile, it will appear at the top of their profile card for easy viewing. This helps users filter out with whom and how they’d like to match if they’re set on meeting in person. This is encouraged, of course, alongside safe social-distancing measures.

Launched in June, Curius is a social-networking and dating app seeking to make a breakthrough in the industry with its all-inclusive platform. It allows users to match with others based on their relationship needs by swiping another user’s profile card into 1 of 6 intention categories: Casual Dating, Serious Dating, Friendship, and more. With the addition of the In-Person Meetup badge, Curius hopes to further supplement people’s social needs during these trying times.

Brittney Spencer, the Content Lead and other Co-Founder, stated, “We really hope this maintains our users’ ability to communicate their needs further. That’s always what we’ve stood for and the pandemic shouldn’t get in the way of that.”

Curius is free and available now on the iOS App Store. Plans are underway for the app to be released on the Google Play Store in the coming months. Download the iOS version in the App Store today, or visit to subscribe for updates on the development of the Android version.
